How do you take care of you? Or do you?
I am here to tell you that self-care is more important than you might realize. Today we’re going to talk about taking care of you, and I even have some suggestions if you’re not sure where to start. 🙂
Do you spend your days working from sun up to sun down, and running kiddos all around, and taking care of everyone else? Sound like someone you know?
Well, if this sounds like you, I’m going to call you out a little bit here.
Because you need to take care of you! I’m not talking about being selfish. And you might think that taking care of you means that you’re being selfish, but that’s not true. Taking care of you means that you’re preparing yourself to be your best. I personally feel that too many of us think that being our best means how well we do everything else in our life. With work and family and all of our other responsibilities. That’s not being your best, that’s you being everyone else’s best. Today, we’re focusing on you!
There’s a couple of different ways to approach this subject.
The first is literally taking care of you. Eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly are how to physically take care of you. It’s important, especially when life gets stressful, that you make sure you’re doing all of those three things. These are self-care items that are not optional. It is imperative that you eat healthy, exercise and sleep.
However, there’s a second way of self-care, and the one I’m talking about more specifically today. This self-care is taking time doing things that help you relax, things you enjoy. The key word here is enjoy! 🙂 You cannot refresh and renew if you’re forcing yourself to do something you don’t enjoy. These are things just for you.
I have some self-care suggestions for you in a minute. 🙂 Hang in there!
In case you aren’t sure what you enjoy doing, just for you. I’m not joking. I’ve been there. I went too long taking care of everyone else, that I’d forgotten what makes me happy. If this is you, I’m going to hold your hand and get you started!
Please take a moment, grab a piece of scratch paper, and write down what you enjoy doing. What makes you smile? What brings you peace? Is there something that makes your heart happy? If you can’t come up with any ideas, here’s a few to get your creative juices flowing.

Did that help? Are you on your way to making a great list of things you can do to take a moment, or maybe an hour to take care of you?
I would like to encourage you to take a few minutes each day for taking care of you. Maybe once per week take a little more time for you. Taking this time will recharge your batteries, clear your mind and help you be the best YOU possible. If you haven’t done so already, give your self permission to love you! ❤
